HEIRESS “OF GREAT SORROW” FULL LENGTH STREAMING
Recorded and mixed by Tad Doyle at Witch Ape Studio and released by The Mylene Sheath on Feb. 18, 2015 on Vinyl, CD and digital download. All the details can be found below…

Heiress‘ bone-shattering new full length, ‘Of Great Sorrow‘, which was engineered, recorded and mixed by Tad Doyle at Witch Ape Studio (YOB, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth, Lumbar, TAD). Of Great Sorrow is the second full-length album released  on February 18th via The Mylene Sheath (Pelican, Caspian, Junius). The album was mastered by Chris Hanzsek (Soundgarden, Melvins, Screaming Trees) with artwork handled by Demian Johnston. Never content standing still, the band is already tracking a third album set for release in 2015, even as the world may not be done absorbing the sonic explosion of Of Great Sorrow for years to come. The time of Heiress is now, and they’re going for the throat.”

For those uninitiated, Heiress is an American rock band from Seattle, WA featuring former members of Himsa, Undertow, Jough Dawn Baker and Shift. The group performs a cathartic blend of hardcore punk and atmospheric post-metal. They formed in Seattle, WA in 2006 originally with vocalist Adam Paysse, the co-founder of Rome Plow Records. Then in December 2008 John Pettibone, formerly of many Seattle-area bands including Himsa and Undertow, took over Paysse’s place as lead vocalist. With this lineup, Heiress recorded a five-song self-titled EP and self-released it in 2009. Soon after, in 2010, the band signed to Deathwish Inc., an independent hardcore record label that was co-founded by Jacob Bannon of Converge. The group’s first release through the label was a split 7″ with Narrows. In 2012 Heiress released the Naysayer EP. The single featured artwork by Demian Johnston, who previously played with Pettibone in Undertow and Nineironspitfire, and was positively received by Alternative Press (4/5). Ten of the remaining tracks from this session became Heiress’ full-length debut album titled Early Frost, released by Deathwish Inc. in early 2013 and received an 8/10 rating from Decibel Magazine.

BOTSC REVEAL SECOND TRACK PREMIER WITH NEUROT RECORDINGS

[PRE-ORDERS FOR VINYL AND CD w/DIGITAL DOWNLOAD ARE AVAILABLE HERE NOW AT NEUROT RECORDINGS]

Vocalist/guitarist Tad Doyle further comments, “Originally the main riff was one of the first songs for BOTSC, conceived in 2007 and developed over a period of seven years until this release. Lyrically the subject matter is of the notion that one has been here for thousands of years. This comes with the realization that there are ‘old souls’ who may have been here many times and have witnessed glimpses of past lives through a series of déjà vus. Some who have lived as hunter gatherers working soil, some as soldiers on bloody battlefields joining their blades with others flesh, and those who have witnessed their lives as other living beings and animals. This return to ‘here’, being the last time.”

Slated for release worldwide on 17, February 2015 via Neurot Recordings, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth was captured at Robert Lang Studios by Chris Rahm and Doyle’s own Witch Ape Studio in Seattle, Washington by Tad Doyle himself and drummer Dave French and mixed by Billy Anderson (Sleep, High On Fire, Melvins et al). Thrusting forth five hauntingly heavy tracks, with two bonus hymns included on the CD edition the offering serves as Doyle’s first recorded release in nearly fifteen years. Brothers of the Sonic Cloth’s audio manifestations are welcomingly unfamiliar, splicing thick, jagged riffs through chilling post-punk drumming and hulking compositions that blow soulfully hot and desolately cold, sometimes within the confines of one track. Their long-form pieces present the kind of mature ideas and expansive progressions that outpace the listener’s short-term memory leading them off the proverbial map; familiar landmarks like sludge, post-metal, rock all but disappeared over the horizon. Authentic and authoritative, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth is as much a persistent thudding body punch of sonic destructive force as it is a thoughtful statement of awareness and the inescapable raw condition of life.
